What Sunprint does

Sunprint gives Florida homeowners a free solar savings estimate. You enter your ZIP code, your electric utility and a recent bill, and the calculator shows a savings range and a system size. Because every Florida utility pays for solar power differently, we also publish a guide for each major utility that explains its rates, how it credits solar and what your bill needs.

How the estimates work

Your estimate starts from your utility's average residential rate. Those rates come from federal EIA data, and we update them from a utility's own filings where we have verified newer numbers. The calculator then uses a typical Florida solar output per kilowatt, sizes a system to cover about 75 to 95 percent of your yearly use, and projects savings over 25 years.

Where a utility pays much less for power you send to the grid, the calculator says so, because its estimate can overstate savings in those cases.

How we write our guides

  • Each utility guide is built from that utility's own rate schedules, filings and solar program pages.
  • Sources are linked at the bottom of the page, and each guide shows when it was last reviewed.
  • When a fact comes from news coverage instead of the utility's own page, the guide says so.
  • When we could not confirm something, we say that or leave it out.
  • Rates and rules change. If you see something out of date, tell us and we will check it against the utility's source.

What Sunprint is not

Sunprint is not a solar installer and is not affiliated with any utility. Nothing here is financial, tax or legal advice. Estimates are illustrative, not a quote or a binding offer, and only an installer who visits your home can price a system.

If you request a quote call

The estimate is free and does not ask for your name or phone number. If you choose to request a quote call, we pass your details to one licensed solar installer who serves your area. We do not sell your information to lead aggregators, and we do not send it to a list of competing companies. If you only use the calculator, your information is not shared with any installer.

Sunprint earns money when it connects a homeowner who requests a quote call with an installer. Installers do not appear in your estimate, and they do not influence it. Our privacy policy has the full details.
