Utility guides
These guides cover a utility's actual rates, how it credits solar power sent to the grid, and what a monthly bill needs. More are being added.

Electric rates for 52 Florida utilities
Average residential rates run from about 11 to 18 cents per kWh across the utilities we cover. The lower your rate, the bigger the system a given bill needs. Electric cooperatives
Rates are each utility's average residential rate from federal EIA data for 2024 or 2025. Rates marked with an asterisk (*) are estimates for small municipal utilities where we do not yet have a verified rate. Planning figures, not a quote.
Common questions
How do I know which utility I have?
Your electric bill names it, usually at the top. In some areas two utilities serve the same county, for example Florida Power & Light and Lee County Electric Cooperative in parts of Lee and Collier counties, so check the bill instead of guessing from your address.
Why does the same bill need a different size of solar system at different utilities?
A bill is a dollar amount. At a utility with a lower rate per kWh, the same dollars buy more electricity, and covering more electricity takes a bigger system. Our bill-size guide shows the same $400 bill at eight utilities.
Where do these electric rates come from?
They are each utility's average residential rate from federal EIA data for 2024 or 2025. For 16 small municipal utilities we do not yet have a verified rate, so the table shows an estimate and says so. Your own rate depends on your plan.
